The Act-Belong-Commit Loungeroom Project is an at-home theatre and performance making challenge that’s free for all Western Australians aged 13-26.
Learn, Rehearse, Perform, Win!
Brought to you by WA Youth Theatre Company.
You will learn a range of theatre and performance making skills in storytelling, character development, acting techniques, movement, comedy and lighting among many others. This will help you develop your own short performance ‘in your loungeroom’, film it on your mobile and submit it to the Loungeroom Jury.
You don’t need any previous experience and you can begin at any time during the eight-week course.
All you need to participate is internet access, a mobile device, a loungeroom (or similar), and a free WAYTCo membership.
In Week Three you will learn about creating and developing characters with Chris Edmund and unpack the fundamentals of sketch comedy in a masterclass with Libby Klysz.
For more information about the course, the work you will produce, and how it all works please read our Guidelines on the Resources page.
Once you have signed up as a WAYTCo member (it’s free at the moment!) you can access additional platforms for interacting with the tutors and each other. Members will have exclusive access to Zoom Q&As with the tutors for each week of the program as well as online discussion groups.
At the end of the course the performance piece you submit could win you a cash prize! There are six Loungeroom Hero Awards up for grabs:
